I spent some time practicing with my sister’s hair and make up to get a feel for her wedding! Here’s an updo I did..my first EVER updo! I only do my own hair, so this was quite different! It’s a bit frizzy because I couldn’t find a hairspray, but take a look! I spent some time practicing with my sister’s hair and make up to get a feel for her wedding! Smashbox Photofinish Primer

This is a review of Smashbox Photo FInish Primer. I bought mine the day after Thanksgiving at Ulta for around $10 (Originally $16) however it was only for the Travel Size at .5 fl oz. The original can be purchased at Ulta or Sephora at $40 for 1 fl oz.

Among Beauty Blogger, this primer stands out as a fan favorite and I can see why. With a light a silky texture, it leaves your skin feeling smooth and soft. You only need to use barely a drop of primer to cover your entire face. It helps your liquid foundation go on smoother, and last longer than without.

In short, it’s an excellent primer, but it’s not worth the $40 price tag. I would compare it to Hard Candy Sheer Envy Primer, for only $7 per 1 fl oz. IF you find a great deal like I did, go for it! Even trying the travel size, you’ll still be able to use the primer for a long time since you don’t use that much in each appliacaition.

The Bottom Line? Buy or Don’t Buy. It’s up to you and your budget. I definitely don’t think its worth $40, but if your willing to pay, it’s a great primer!

Smashbox DOES NOT test on animals :)

Revlon PhotoReady Concealer

This is a review of Revlon PhotoReady Concealer. I purchased mine at CVS for around $8 dollars, and I have the lightest color in “Light 002”. This is a stick concealer and contains SPF 20.

First off, I really like this concealer. It is very thick and smooth, and has great coverage. Its blends well, however I’ve found that it blends better with my fingers rather than a brush. It lasts for most of the day, but it usually requires a touch up, espeically for the under eye area. The packaging is nice for a stick concealer, and the tube twists easily so I have no fear of it breaking.

I would compare this concealer to MAC Studio Fix Concealer, that I love, but unfortunately breaks me out. Also, I have noticed that especially in winter when I’m at my palest, this concealer can get pretty yellow, and a bit too dark, so I wish Revlon would have a lighter color.

The Bottom Line? BUY! It’s a little pricey for a drugstore concealer, but it’s worth it for the thick and creamy texture and coverage.

Ohmygosh, I'm so excited that I found your blog! It looks like its going to be super helpful for me. I'm a beauty lover just like you but I just started collecting makeup a couple months ago so I want to make sure I'm buying the right products for my collection. The one thing about my collection is that I am completely against animal cruelty so I only buy products that DO NOT test on animals. So it would be fantastic if you could do reviews on those brands, such as Revlon and Physician's Formua.

Thanks for the support! :) I’ve been meaning to switch over to only brands that don’t test on animals, so this is a great chance to! I’ve done a lot on e.l.f and Urban Decay, who don’t test on animals, but I’ll definitely look into more cruelty free brands! :)

Naked Palette 2

I got the Naked Palette 2 for Christmas! Expect reviews coming soon, and a comparison to the original Naked Palette, which I have but never reviewed.

I hope everyone had a great christmas! :))

How To Get That Perfect Red Lip!

I love lip color and there is honestly, nothing classier than a bright red lipstick.

1. Moisturize! Use that chapstick! Maybe I suggest Palmer’s Cocoa Butter. (See a review here). Make sure you moisturize your lips when you start your make up routine, so after foundation, eyes, etc, your lips should be soft and ready for application!

2. Apply pressed powder to your lips. I like to use MAC StudioFix, but any pressed powder used for foundation would work. However, I wouldn’t recommend translucent powders since, obviously, they are translucent and hard to see. Applying powder primes your lips for application, while also creating a base so that the color will be brighter.

3. Lip Liner - Okay, so don’t get too worried, when I say lipliner, I mean a lip liner pencil, specifically NYX Slim Lip Pencil (in Hot Red). A liner really allows for definition, but I prefer to put the liner on the entire lip, so that way there is really a firm base that will NOT fade.

4. Lipstick! And finally, just put on the lipstick! Some people would reccomend using a brush, but honestly, as long as your careful I don’t really see a point. Being careful is the key to red lipstick, since it can stain and ruin all your work with foundation. My favorite is Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Color in Red Revival. Color is the key to a nice Red lip, I personally like a true dark red. Anything that is slightly orange drives me crazy!

I hope this was helpful! Ask questions!
